磷酸肌醇（PIPns）是细胞膜的次要成分，但是是细胞通讯的组成部分信号分子。磷脂酰肌醇 3，4，5-三磷酸 （PIP3） 由 PI（4，5）P2 通过 PI 3-激酶磷酸化形成，可激活多种信号通路，导致细胞增殖、生长、存活、葡萄糖转运和蛋白质合成。PI3-K 失调导致的高 PIP3 水平已在癌症和炎症性疾病中得到证实。PIP3被磷酸酶PTEN水解为PI（4，5）P2，并运送至PI（3，4）P2。
