Immobilization of Enzymes on Glyoxyl Agarose: Strategies for Enzyme Stabilization by Multipoint Atta

Immobilization of enzymes on pre-existing supports containing small aliphatic aldehyde groups (e.g., glyoxyl-agarose) presents a set of interesting features from both a basic and a more practical point of view. The chemistry of this immobilization method is quite different from more popular methods involving glutaraldehyde and the three principal steps (activation of the support, enzyme immobilization, and end-point of immobilization including blocking remaining active groups) are outlined in Fig. 1 ( 1 ).
