The fission yeastSchizosaccharomyces pombeis well-suited for studying meiotic recombination. Methods are described here for culturingS. pombeand for genetic assays of intragenic recombination (gene conversion), intergenic recombination (crossing-over), and spore viability. Both random spore and tetrad analyses are described.
